I have been using the outrigger since 2003 and find it to be an integral part of my survey equipment. In fact, nearly every truck in our survey department is equipped with one. It eliminates the need to break down the rod when traveling from point to point, particularly when using GPS. As well, having the use of the outrigger allows you to maintain lock with the satellites while driving; thus enabling you to navigate to points without the hassle of finding a safe place to pull over, taking out the antenna and reacquiring satellites.
I highly recommend the B&B Outrigger, not only for GPS work, but conventional surveying as well.
